  • Who Are We?

Founded in 2008, Coffeehouse Theatre began as a way for emerging artists to create their own work. The company is continuously re-developing as it grows and hopefully will continue to invent itself over and over again.

Coffeehouse Theatre is a personally funded organization currently looking for support to bring you bigger and better productions. Please consider donating and keep the theatre arts active!

We're now accepting submissions for our Toronto Fringe show, "Linda & Jason".

Send us an e-mail at coffeehousetheatre@gmail.com to arrange an audition. The process will be very informal as we're looking for natural characters, most likely a meeting over coffee and reading from the script.

Synopsis: Linda, a 26 year old girl who's just lost her grandmother has moved into her old house to clean up all the junk before selling it. Realizing she's still where she was when graduating school she decides to reset herself and starts dating Jason a 17 year old high school student. This play tackles not being where you think you should be and realizing that the garbage in your life isn't garbage and is maybe more valuable than you think it is. It's a romantic comedy about two people growing up together at different times in their lives.

Roles available:

Jason - age 17 (willing to cast older, but we're casting a "look" as well as the character.) Think Jason Seagle during the Freaks and Geeks era. Linda's highschool boyfriend who's caught up with the idea of being in "love". A romeo.

Beccy - age 18. Linda's younger cousin. Outgoing and enthusiastic personality. Full of energy and life.

Steven - age 30. Jason's older brother. The opposite of Linda, content and happy with where he is and the path he's chosen. Equity/Actra members welcome to audition as it will be arranged through the festival contract on a profit-share payment.

Coffeehouse Theatre aims to continue to work with emerging theatre artists both on stage and off.
